Sollumz: The Blender Addon for GTA V Modding

Sollumz is an open-source Blender plugin that lets Blender read and write GTA V's native asset formats directly. Before Sollumz, the standard pipeline was Blender for general modeling and Zmodeler3 for the final GTA-format export step. Sollumz aims to make Blender capable of the full pipeline. Here is what it supports per the project's GitHub README.

What Sollumz is

The official description from the GitHub README: "Blender plugin to import, export, or create GTA V assets." The project was created by Skylumz, Colton Fox, and alexguirre, with copyright noted as "2020-2025."

Supported file formats

Sollumz handles the following GTA V asset formats:

  • YDR - drawables (props, models)
  • YDD - drawable dictionaries
  • YFT - fragments (vehicles, breakable props)
  • YBN - bound files (collision geometry)
  • YTYP - type files (entity definitions)
  • YCD - clip dictionaries (animations)
  • YMAP - map placement files (with partial support per the README)

Blender version requirements

The README explicitly states: "Blender 4.0 or newer."

What Sollumz does NOT advertise

  • Direct YMT export (the metadata format used for some game data)
  • Built-in handling.meta or vehicles.meta editing
  • Audio asset (.awc) support

The plugin focuses on the 3D asset pipeline. Metadata files (vehicles.meta, handling.meta, carcols.meta) are still edited as plain XML/text outside the addon.
